Isle of Harris Elopement

I was absolutely delighted to head over to the Isle of Harris for another Elopement last year. The weather was looking a bit rough and with the problems on the wee ferry I decided to head over to Harris the day before the elopement. As soon as I landed on Harris I had a message from Calmac telling me my sailing home the next day after the wedding had been cancelled! Oh well... I love an adventure and I saw this as just that! I would get a chance to do some more exploring and see some friends up in Lewis.

The weather was getting so bad that they named it Storm Agnes! As I had arrived a day early, I decided I would head over to the holiday home the couple were staying in (Taigh Rona) and say hello and brainstorm some ideas to deal with the weather.

As it was looking worse in the afternoon and the registrar was set to come for around 12.30 we decided that we would do everything backwards! When I say backwards I mean from the usual way things tend to happen on a wedding day.... but your wedding day can happen however you want it to and I'm always going to be a fan of doing things out of the ordinary.

So! I arrived on the day a lot earlier so we could get a few shots in the house before heading down to Luskentyre Beach for some couple portraits. After that their close family came down to the beach and we did some family portraits and then we went back to the house for a cup of tea while we waited for Helen the registrar to arrive and all popped down the road to a spot that the couple had gone swimming a few days before to get them married! Once they were married and my job was almost done, I had planned to head over to Tarbert to get the ferry home via the Skye triangle!! It is a long journey but it is worth it to get back to your own bed. I asked Katy and Gareth to follow me up the road so we could get a few more portraits up in the hill before I left them to celebrate.

Wonderful day and so relaxed and fun! I would absolutely recommend having an elopement on the Isle of Harris!
